We've started weekly Shalom Bayit classes to build up the local Russian-speaking Haredi community in Jerusalem.
At Yaakov's Dream Fund, we had the honor of sponsoring and hosting a rather unique event last week.
Part of helping Haredi (ultra-Orthodox) Jews overcome the educational and career obstacles in their way, involves creating a community, especially among those that are most overlooked.
Ever heard of Russian-speaking Haredim?
For many, that might seem a contradiction - but in Israel, this community is fine and well! (Albeit struggling with their own unique challenges in a new country, with a new language, and so on.)
We decided to invite Rabbi Kushnir, the most demanded speaker in the Russian-speaking world, to talk about Shalom Bayit (literally, "peace in the home") to young Russian-speaking Jewish men.
Timing this event just before the Jewish month of Tammuz holds particular significance. Tammuz is a time for reflection and improvement in our relationships, both within our families and our community.
In Tammuz, we remember the breach of the walls of Jerusalem, which symbolizes a breakdown and urges us to repair and rebuild.
Not just that - through mourning and fasting, we are reminded to care for the suffering of others and recognize our collective responsibility for our global community.
We are grateful to Rabbi Kushnir and to all who participated. This marks the beginning of weekly Shalom Bayit classes for men and women to build up the local Russian-speaking Haredi community. We hope to host more events like this in the future, and foster a young emerging community that is eager to contribute to Israel.
We also thank you for taking the time to learn about Yaakov's Dream Fund. Your support can help us continue making a positive difference.
We invite you to join us in our mission, to create a brighter future for everyone, together.
Support financial independence for Israeli Orthodox women and their families!
