We happened to know Rabbi Shmuel and Tali Slotki. We wanted to buy their house in Ramot before the war started. Today we met for a different reason to join them in their grief, as they lost their two sons in one day. Noam (age 31) served as a combat medic in the 221st Battalion of the Carmeli Brigade, and Yishai (age 24) was a valiant fighter in Battalion 7006 in the Oded Brigade. Both heroes gave their lives in the battles against the Hamas terrorists in Kibbutz Alumim. The two brothers like all the people of Israel, heard about the atrocities in the south and flew to the surrounding settlements to help the residents. They fought as heroes - but in the end, like many others, they fell in battle. May their memory be an enduring blessing. We are profoundly grateful to their parents, Rabbi Shmuel and Tali, who raised such noble and selfless sons. With the generous support of our donors, we were able to provide the Slotki family with financial assistance of 5,000 shekels during this difficult time. In the video below Rabbi Shmuel expresses his gratitude.
«Those who send bombs to destroy our homes want to take our lives and instill fear.»
Yoheved's story is indeed a remarkable testament to resilience and miracles in the face of adversity. While she wasn't at home for Simhat Torah, her parents, and two young sons were present when a rocket from Gaza struck their house directly, causing massive destruction to their home and the surrounding area, including cars, and even injuring a boy in the neighboring building. Despite the chaos, all four of them emerged unharmed. The fact that they escaped unscathed is nothing short of a miracle. The image of the Temple remaining on the wall amidst the turmoil is a powerful symbol of strength and hope, reminding us of the importance of unity and mutual support. With faith and solidarity, we can overcome even the most challenging circumstances.
During the initial days of the war, we helped in the procurement and distribution of essential supplies for our soldiers stationed in the northern military base. With remarkable determination and an extensive network of supporters, we managed to collect military gear, clothing, and other fundamental items necessary for their operations. The proactive approach and hands-on involvement in delivering these resources directly to the base exhibited a strong commitment to our troops' well-being.
T entire community of Shlomit residents has been evacuated. We had the privilege of meeting these brave individuals, listening to their stories, and witnessing the challenges they currently face. This small but close-knit community, comprising about 20 families, is filled with remarkably strong people. When they received news of a terror attack near their kibbutz, they displayed incredible courage by leaving their families to join the fight. Sadly, four of them did not return, leaving behind four young widows and their children. Another four heroes came back wounded, and it's thanks to their selflessness that others were spared.Currently, the entire community has had to relocate to a safer area. Many of their homes have been damaged by gunfire and rockets. The timeline for their return is uncertain, and the possibility of continuing to live in the area remains in question. These individuals demonstrate immense resilience and strength in the face of adversity, and their future is uncertain but filled with hope.It was heartwarming to hear that the first thing they are going to do once they return is to build a new synagogue in memory of the fallen members of the community.
